The formality of the hedging, which creates different rooms, reflects the strong architectural lines of the house. The geometric layout of the terrace and garden results in the creation of multiple, different areas for entertaining. Incorporated into the garden design, an extension to the house was built for a sauna and wellness room.
The infinity pool creates the illusion of water extending out to the horizon.
The luxurious oak garden studio is a remote retreat from the house.
Plants are the backbone of all life on Earth and an essential resource for human well being. Whether planting is to be architectural, to soften the landscape, to increase wild life, waft with scent or be intense with colour, Design by Katja ensures the planting is an integral part of the garden design.
A 500-year old cottage, nestled in the Kentish countryside, is now complete with the luxury wellness experience.
Complete design – and execution – of an indoor hydrotherapy pool, steam and relaxation room, sauna, shower and toilet facilities, all finished in natural stone and glass mosaics. This modern design, combined with up-to-date technology, provides the ultimate retreat for body and soul.
What better way to extend your garden’s potential than with a beautiful, integrated swimming pool? Katja’s background and experience allows her to offer a unique service in the design and build of both standard and natural swimming pools and ponds, with an innovative and integrated approach, to ensure that the pool remains in harmony with its surroundings.
Each pool is designed to suit the client’s needs, whether this is for exercise or leisure or something in between, and to blend seamlessly into the landscape.
A natural swimming pool or pond uses a unique filtration system to keep the water clean and clear, without the need for chemicals. Based on the way plants filter water, a bio-filter replaces the standard chemical plant without compromising on safety requirements. It’s an approach which offers a living pool with low energy costs, ecological benefits and the delight of freshwater, chemical-free swimming year-round.
This luxurious, exquisite villa is designed in the true sense of outdoor living. The property, with an outdoor kitchen and dining area, envelopes an elegant, high-spec. swimming pool. The black porcelain tiling enables the conventional-use swimming pool to double as a reflecting pool, which mirrors the architecture of the surrounding house. After dark, the glow of the lighting makes this a romantic, serene and sublime destination.
A town house, renovated with flair, enables views, from the different floors above, to a strong geometrical design which gives structure to this garden and a sense of journey to the orangerie as a focal point. Betulas, framing the orangerie, give interest also in winter.
This second residence was designed primarily for leisure, for both parents and children. The bespoke glass balustrades allows uninterrupted views from all angles, ensures safety for children and acts as a screen in breezy weather. In a relatively small space, a swimming pool, enclosed for safety, leads on to a wild, free-flowering garden with naturalistic planting which can cope with the strong coastal winds and salt spray.
The planting design of the garden provides continuous and changing colour for 10 months of the year, starting with a carpet of spring bulbs, to grasses and perennials standing tall into winter. A secret garden for children is explored through pathways. The garden also embraces a hidden jacuzzi with views onto the dunes.
The property is in the centre of Richmond where the landscape garden is needed to screen off the hustle and bustle behind the property walls. Mature trees and a simple garden design give ample space for children to play and dining for the adults.
